FDA Issues Warning: Risks of Nitrous Oxide Products (Laughing Gas)
While we haven’t yet encountered this issue in Iran, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a consumer warning advising people not to inhale nitrous oxide products—commonly known as laughing gas—due to potential side effects including mental health disorders and even death.
Nitrous oxide is a colorless, odorless gas that, when inhaled, can cause euphoria, relaxation, and detachment from reality.
According to the FDA, individuals who use this gas for its euphoric effects may experience dangerous drops in blood pressure, potentially leading to loss of consciousness and other serious injuries.
Some of the nitrous oxide products flagged by the FDA—often sold in colorful packaging at gas stations, vape shops, and online stores—include brands like Cosmic Gas, Galaxy Gas, and MassGass.
