Korea\u2019s 10 largest drugmakers, excluding Samsung Biologics and Celltrion, finished 2025 with more earnings power than their sales growth alone would suggest, giving the strongest performers more room to invest in pipelines and overseas expansion as costs continue to rise across the industry.<\/p>\n
A review of preliminary 2025 results from 10 drugmakers shows combined revenue of 14.08 trillion won (about $9.8 billion) and combined operating profit of about 966.6 billion won (about $672 million).<\/p>\n
Among the traditional drugmakers, Yuhan Corp. reported consolidated revenue of 2.17 trillion won, up 5.75 percent, while operating profit rose 90.19 percent to 104.3 billion won and net income surged 235.95 percent to 185.3 billion won. The company cited improved cost ratios and gains including milestone and royalty income tied to its lung cancer drug Leclaza (lazertinib, sold overseas as Lazcluze), as well as gains from the sale of equity stakes in affiliates.<\/p>\n
GC Biopharma reported 1.99 trillion won in consolidated revenue, up 18.54 percent, and operating profit of 69.1 billion won, up 115.37 percent. The company pointed to a higher share of overseas sales from higher-margin products, led by expanded U.S. sales of its intravenous immunoglobulin product Alyglo, alongside contributions from Hunterase and the chickenpox vaccine Barycela.<\/p>\n
Chong Kun Dang posted consolidated revenue of 1.69 trillion won, up 6.68 percent, but reported operating profit of 80.5 billion won and net income of 77.8 billion won, citing higher selling and R&D expenses and a tougher comparison against prior-year one-off factors.<\/p>\n
Kwangdong Pharmaceutical reported consolidated revenue of 1.66 trillion won, up 1.1 percent from a year earlier, and operating profit of 31.0 billion won, up 3.2 percent. The company also said standalone revenue rose to 1.01 trillion won, crossing the 1 trillion won mark on its core business.<\/p>\n
Daewoong Pharmaceutical reported consolidated revenue of 1.57 trillion won, up 10.42 percent, while operating profit climbed 33.01 percent to 196.7 billion won. Net income jumped 721.10 percent to 191.6 billion won, which the company tied to stronger performance from in-house drugs and higher-margin exports, including its reflux drug Fexuclue (fexuprazan), diabetes drug Envlo (enavogliflozin) and botulinum toxin Nabota.<\/p>\n
Hanmi Pharmaceutical reported record consolidated revenue of 1.55 trillion won, up 3.48 percent. Operating profit rose 19.25 percent to 257.7 billion won and net income increased 33.92 percent to 188.0 billion won, supported by steady growth in Rosuzet (ezetimibe plus rosuvastatin) and the Amosartan (amlodipine plus losartan) family, as well as higher clinical-supply and royalty income from partner MSD (known as Merck & Co. in the U.S. and Canada) and improving operations at its China unit.<\/p>\n
Among companies reporting standalone figures, HK inno.N surpassed 1 trillion won in annual revenue for the first time, posting 1.06 trillion won, up 18.50 percent, with operating profit up 25.68 percent to 110.8 billion won and net income up 22.93 percent to 75.7 billion won.<\/p>\n
Boryung reported revenue of 1.036 trillion won, up 1.9 percent from a year earlier, and revised full-year operating profit to 65.0 billion won after booking provisions tied to reimbursement risks related to its hypertension drug Kanarb (fimasartan). Dong-A ST reported revenue of 745.1 billion won, up 16.30 percent, but operating profit fell 16.1 percent to 27.2 billion won, citing higher costs and R&D spending.<\/p>\n
The weakest profitability among the group came from Daewon Pharmaceutical, which reported consolidated revenue of 605.6 billion won, up 1.25 percent, while operating profit dropped 87.85 percent to 3.4 billion won and net income swung to a loss of 4.3 billion won on higher cost of sales and increased R&D spending.<\/p>\n
Outside the Top 10 cohort, the two industry heavyweights \u2014 Samsung Biologics and Celltrion \u2014 posted outsized results.
